Love & Marriage: DC “Coldest Winter Ever”

Love and Marriage: DC Season 1 Episode 2

SPOILER ALERT!!! IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THIS EPISODE, LEAVE NOW AND COME BACK WHEN YOU HAVE!

Here we go again! Episode 2 did not disappoint! Monique got us started tonight. Okay, remember the last episode when Monique talked to Chris about his stagnation? The conversation carried over to the next day during her lunch with Ashley. This time, Chris was not around. Monique opened up to Ashley about the conversation she had with her husband. Ashley asked Monique a fundamental question: do you think it’s the “seven-year itch”? For anyone who isn’t familiar with that term, the seven-year itch is a phrase used when the romance fades in a long-term relationship, generally around the seven-year mark. Monique insists that it is not that, and the conversation shifts to a lighter subject. The outing with Ashley and Monique depicts the way girlfriends talk and try to make sense of their men. But I think Monique already knows what’s wrong with her man, and there isn’t an immediate solution to their growing tension.

Now speaking of Chris, he decided to meet with Winter’s soon-to-be ex-husband, Kevin. Last week, Winter told the Samuels her version of events between her and Kevin. This week, we hear Kevin’s side. Well, kind of. I understand that the story's elements are tied up in the courts, but I heard more blame-shifting than anything about why their relationship deteriorated. Something about Kevin doesn’t sit right with me. He comes off as believable, but he has this “I wouldn’t trust me if I were you” vibe. Hey, just my opinion.

When Quick and Jamie are together in the following scene, they discuss the upcoming events the men are hosting simultaneously. Both men show their competitive but friendly sides and seem excited about the weekend events.  The only sour note was when the men realized that their wives would not like it. Quick is seen later at a dinner party with the cast, hosted by the Samuels in their beautiful home. Monique and Chris’ home looked like a very tranquil environment. I need that in my life. During the dinner, a conversation is started regarding the Tyler's marriage and how they have managed to keep their marriage intact. Erana and Jamie both share their perspectives. Jamie didn’t look too pleased when Erana spoke about the time they spent on Infidelity Island aka alleged infidelity.

During the conversation, each couple shared their different perspectives and situations. The one that caught my attention the most was Winter’s reaction to what Monique said. Let’s back up. Monique and Chris got into a disagreement while trying to clear the air about his actions during her illness. After they go toe to toe, Chris and Monique make up. Aww, so sweet; let’s move on—the conversation shifts when Winter starts talking about her story. Monique informs Winter of the meet-up between Chris and Kevin, and Winter doesn’t appreciate that AT ALL.

After making her disapproval known, Winter explains her side of the story and cosigns some of what Kevin said. Things shifted to the left when Ashley decided to speak on the matter in a not-so-friendly tone. You can see Winter is visibly shaken, and Ashley loves it! I told ya’ll she seemed messy! Hopefully, next week’s episode will show Winter turning up because Ashley bae-bay… good luck, Winter!
