Love & Marriage: DC “Monique in the Middle”

Love and Marriage: DC Season 1 Episode 7

SPOILER ALERT!!! IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THIS EPISODE, LEAVE NOW AND COME BACK WHEN YOU HAVE!

In this episode, Monique starts her radio hosting job. Chris transitions into being even more hands-on with the kids. When Monique returns home, she speaks with Chris about her day at work. She lets him know how her day went, and he talks about how his day went with the kids. Ashley met with her publisher regarding her book. She is in the process of completing a self-help book. That’s where the head-scratching began. Everyone has a story to share, myself included. We can all give our opinions regarding the facts that happened in our lives. But Ashley and self-help don’t compute in my brain. As I think further, Ashley is the last person on the show that I would have thought is authoring a self-help book.

Anyway, during the photo shoot, Monique arrives. Ashley invited her to come over. As Ashley is wrapping up her shoot, Monique greets her. Monique and Ashley sit down and begin to talk. Next head-scratching moment: Monique deflated any chances of reconciliation between Winter and Ashley. This time, Monique informs Ashley of the nickname Winter called her husband. Ashley laughed about the nickname DJ Fun-Size. Ashley told Rana what Monique said and informed her of Winter’s alias for Jamie. “Red Light Special” wasn’t funny to Rana at all. Rana was not too happy to hear that Winter disclosed information that was told to her privately. You can see how Erana became heated when she heard Ashley detailing what she heard. I am starting to see a pattern emerge here.

Erana makes sure that Winter understands how wrong she was for talking about private information with others without her consent. Winter tried to be dismissive. The look she gave Erana said at all. It made me feel like Winter had no regard for the information she shared. If she is representing Christianity, was that something she should have done? And is this a new form of Christianity? I’m concluding that these perfectly wrapped couples are about to start bumping heads as we explore more into their stories. This episode was a pick-me-up. Not too much drama and a great representation of black couples. In my opinion, anyway. Well, until the next episode…
