Setting Meaningful Goals for 2025: Family, Nonprofits, and Personal Growth
May this coming new year bring all the wonderful things you have wished for and dreamed about throughout the past year!
Now that Christmas has come and gone, it’s time to welcome the season of renewal—hello, New Year! With 2025 knocking on the door, many of us are already setting goals for what we hope to accomplish. For me, at first, I only had one goal: to be more grammatically correct in my speech. But honestly, that felt a little too simple. So, I decided to add two more goals that really mean something to me.
First Goal: Dive Deeper into My Family History
I’ve mentioned before how I’ve been working on my family tree—specifically, trying to untangle the mystery of The Tale of Two Carolines. I’m stuck trying to figure out which Caroline Horton is my second great-grandmother and which one is my second great-aunt. To solve this, I’ll need to research the men who fathered them back in the late 1800s. It’s a challenge, but I’m determined to finally get to the bottom of it this year.
Second Goal: Start a Nonprofit Organization
During my time experiencing homelessness, I met so many amazing people who were going through tough times. One woman I’ll never forget was staying in an extended stay with her six children for two years because she couldn’t find affordable, safe housing. Her story—and others like it—lit a fire in me to create a nonprofit to support people in similar situations. My vision is to provide resources for families stuck in that cycle, whether they need help finding housing, food, or toiletries. Sometimes, people just need a hand to get through the day, and I want this nonprofit to be that resource.
Third Goal: Focus on Building My Legacy
For years, I’ve had dreams and plans—drafting business ideas, outlining goals—but life always seemed to get in the way. I’d set my aspirations aside to handle more immediate priorities. But now, I’m in a position where I can finally focus on me. This year, my goal is to take three personal projects I’ve started and see them through to completion. I want to stop holding myself back and start bringing my ideas to life. It’s about time I invest in myself and the legacy I want to leave behind.
So, those are my goals for 2025. What about you? What are you hoping to accomplish in the New Year? Are you ready to make 2025 your best year yet? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear what’s on your mind as we head into this new chapter. Let’s claim it together: 2025 is going to be amazing!
